Kids in crisis

Arise works on the ground with children at risk or in crisis. We identify many children through our outreach programmes in Heideveld and get many phone calls from the public, alerting us to children in need of our help.Whether recently abused, living on the streets, on drugs, neglected by parents or facing parent’s death or imprisonment, Arise regularly intervenes for the safety and protection of children. Arise conducts its own investigations into a case and should we render it serious enough, will write up a report to send to statutory social workers for further investigation. It, therefore, remains the responsibility of other organisations to open court when this is necessary.

Where possible, Arise tries to assist families through interventions aimed at uplifting and empowering the whole family.  This can involve counselling for children and parents, help into shelters, help pursing criminal cases, protection orders, grants, employment; the options are varied, but the aim is the same – children protected and children led to Christ. Due to the vast numbers of referrals Arise has been receiving, we have recently taken a step to limit our intakes to children in Heideveld and children of homeless adults in the Claremont area – areas where we have close partnerships with churches and other organisations.
