Safety Parenting

Safety parenting or “kangaroo care” provides a place of safety for children who are in need of care on a temporary or emergency basis. These parents provide a safe place for a child to stay on a temporary basis while plans are put in place to re-unite the child and his/her family of origin or while alternative arrangements for the long-term care of these children are made.

Arise is in the process of upgrading its safety parenting and kangaroo care programmes, so that safety parents can be legally registered with the relevant statutory bodies. Please note that we are not taking any further applications for safety parents at the moment.  We are aware of the great need that exists for safety parents, and would therefore like to encourage you to please contact the following organisations if you are interested in safety parenting:
