HostingHosting What is hosting? Hosting is developing a relationship with a child currently legally placed at a children’s home (numerous children’s homes in and around Cape Town have a working agreement with Arise). The aim of hosting through Arise is to offer the children a chance to experience a Christian family where they can feel love and acceptance. Hosting options: The time-span of hosting will depend on your commitment and availability and Arise is guided by the specific children homes’ policy: The options are: · Continuous hosting – throughout the year, or · Over Christmas school holidays Some childrens’ homes’ policy is that a relationship is built with one specific child, while others view rotation as important so that the child is available for families that are able to consider long term commitments such as foster care. Why Host? Some people host as they are considering the possibility of foster care; while others want to make an impact, but their current life situation means they are not able to commit for long term foster care or adoption. Imagine the impact if Christian families were able to have a committed relationship and be a support to a child. Children Needing Hosting: The children’s homes contact Arise with children needing hosts between the ages of 0-18 years. The biggest need is for hosts for children over 10 years of age or for siblings to be hosted together. How to become a host parent: 1. Pray about the decision so that you are sure that you have the time to make the commitment and that your own children are happy to be involved. 2. Complete the hosting forms attached and fax to Arise. (Please note the police clearance that is needed). 3. Attend a training session/information evening where all your questions can be answered. 4. A date will then be arranged for a home visit and screening. Arise is in the process of improving our services and forms.
